Format: Vinyl LP
Genre: Jazz, Soul-Jazz, Modal, Funky-Jazz
We love Duke Pearson going all the way back to "Taboo" in 1959 which we have on a 7" single... BUT this LP is his crowning achievement. It is honestly worth it for the title track alone - featured on numerous Soul-Jazz compilations over the years but never sounding this good. Featuring Bobby Hutcherson on vibes with Carlos"Potato"Valdes on conga songs also include "Blues For Alvina", "Say You're Mine" and Los Ojos Alegres" 4 of the 6 tracks composed by Duke. This is one of those special Blue Note titles that doesn't have that legendary status so even more special that this reissue came out at all, let alone in this quality. Side note - this was the LP that came out just as Duke was recording one of the great Christmas records ever, "Merry Ole Soul". Never reissued but it is easy to find.
Amazing music, incredible sound, and wonderful packaging! At a fair price!
